Q: How do disposable curtains compare with the cost of using conventional curtains?
A: The use of Marlux disposable curtains provides a cost effective solution to the management of hospital curtains:
Q: Are the curtains fire retardant?
A: Marlux follow a rigorous batch testing regime. Our FR testing is carried out every 5,000m in the UK by an accredited company and every curtain is batch coded for full traceability. (Click to download an up to date test certficate).
Q: How often do the curtains need to be changed?
A: The curtains are durable and we would recommend that each hospital carries out its own assessment to set the frequency at which the curtains should be changed in different areas. This can be easily incorporated into regular auditing processes and can form part of any existing infection control procedures.
Each curtain has a self audit label so that you can easily see when it was last changed.

Q: Do the disposable curtains offer the same privacy as conventional curtains?
A: Privacy for patients is actually enhanced using disposable systems when compared to most conventional fabrics. Marlux now has the benefit of supplying customised printed curtains through our 'Premiere Range' to enhance privacy and dignity within your environment.
Q: How are the curtains labelled?
A: Details of the date that the curtains have been fitted are clearly visible to allow simple auditing procedures to be applied. Each printed label carries a unique batch number to identify the original raw material, date of production and test results for each curtain. This process allows full traceability and peace of mind.
Q: Are the disposable curtains made from environmentally friendly fabric?
A: Yes. The Marlux disposable curtains are made from 100% polypropylene which has one of the lowest environmental impacts of any material - synthetic or traditional.
Q: How do we dispose of the curtains?
A: As part of our environmental policy we are able to offer a nationwide waste collection and genuine recycling service. However, in some circumstances where hospital risk assessments dictate, waste should be classified as clinical waste, (e.g. isolation rooms where disposable aprons and gloves are used) then disposable curtains should be integrated into risk assessed procedure. Should you require Marlux to dispose of infected curtains on your behalf via our fully certified waste partner, details are available on request.
Q: Can we use existing tracking?
A: In most instances, the existing cubicle track can be adapted to take either fast-fit disposable curtains or Universal product. Otherwise, the purpose-built Marlux Fast Fit cubicle and window curtain tracks can be installed. Fitting of the Marlux disposable curtains has been designed to be quick and efficient, whichever tracking system is used.
All installations of Marlux Fast Fit track systems carried out by Marlux Medical are guaranteed for 10 years.
Service contracts are available from Marlux Medical.

A: Marlux has the largest selection of colours of any disposable curtain supplier with 12 standard colours to choose from and hundreds of bespoke colours (subject to quantity) to select for your particular scheme.
